Theatre Erindale’s transformative season begins with with Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses, nominated for three Tony Awards including Best Play.
Nominated for the 2002 Tony Award for Best Play, this show brings to life Ovid’s famous sequence of poems, the source of many of Western literature’s central mythological narratives. Gods, heroes, and monsters explore the emotional consequences of love and the pain of loss. Directed by Program Coordinator and Theatre Erindale’s Artistic Director David Matheson.
Matheson says “While Mary Zimmerman’s play is a magnificent spectacle – it also has a beating heart. It is about love in all of its forms. It is at times tragic, savage, romantic, sexual, and tender. An unbelievably talented young group of actors are engaging with this piece. Their work is brave, funny, intense and physical. This show is not to be missed!”
