The Actor's Essentials, stage combat training @ Burning Mountain's studio, unit 32 | Toronto | Ontario | Canada

Here’s the introductory stage combat course you’ve been waiting for! This course introduces several stage combat disciplines, with extensive detail on foundations. Our goal is to help you feel confident in a variety of situations, by teaching the foundation concepts of stage combat, expressed in several disciplines.

We’ve created this curriculum because this is what we’re seeing in the vast majority of shows that we fight direct.

  • Unarmed (approx 8 hours)
  • Knife basics (approx 2 hours)
  • Intro to sword (approx 12 hours)
  • Found weapons (approx 8 hours)
  • Intro to prop firearms (approx 5 hours)

In a show with disciplines that aren’t in this course? This course gives you practice learning how to learn stage combat, and how to express your character choices within the given choreography. Each topic includes a short piece of choreography to apply the technique to a short scene with consideration for character and story.

The course includes an introduction to fighting for camera, to get an idea of how the stage skills can be applied to the set.

Join us for this comprehensive workshop and practice skill and concepts that will help you feel confident in numerous stage combat situations!

This 10-day course takes place from May 13 to 25, with no classes on May 17, 18 and 19.
