Learn the foundation safety concepts and some essential performance elements of unarmed Stage Combat in one packed day! Practice various techniques that are common in many productions. By the end of the day, you’ll perform a small fight scene with a partner. Also, we’ll cover the basics of working with knives (stabs and cuts, and acting wounds). This will give you a good foundation for any upcoming show.

Topics include:

  • Foundation Safety Features: a complete set of safety concepts that can be applied to all techniques of performed fighting.
  • Performance Concepts: a checklist you can use when your scene feels or looks “fake”. Making your illusion sell to the audience
  • Illusion vs. Reality: What does my character want vs. what am I, the actor, doing? Reconciling keeping your partner safe, while still playing your character’s intent of harm or of defense
  • Psychological Safety: ways to practice stepping out of the scene, so that you don’t take your work home.
  • Traumaturgy: what’s the background you need to know about your character?

Price: $140.00, with CAEA discount: $120
